Privacy policy
Here you can find out, in plain language, which data is processed when you visit this website and when you work with me, and what rights you have.
Please note: This is an English translation provided for your convenience. Only the German version is legally binding.
Contents
1. The key points in brief
- This website only uses technically necessary storage. Visitor analytics (Matomo) and advertising analytics (Meta) have been prepared but are currently not active, and will only be switched on with your consent via the cookie notice (see section 6).
- There is no contact form. You can reach me by phone or email.
- When you open the site, the server automatically stores technical data (e.g. your IP address) for 14 days in order to operate the site securely.
- The fonts are loaded from Google. This transmits your IP address to Google (see section 5).
- I do not pass your data on to third parties and I do not sell it.
2. Controller
The controller responsible for data processing on this website within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:
Emilian BuzaComputerhilfe für Senioren (computer help for seniors)
Hölderlinstraße 13
14050 Berlin, Germany
Phone: +49 151 44985258
Email: hilfe@computerhilfe-charlottenburg.de
No data protection officer has been appointed, as the legal requirements for this are not met. If you have any questions about data protection, please contact me directly.
3. Hosting and server log files
This website runs on a server managed by me, which I rent from the following provider:
netcup GmbH, Daimlerstraße 25, 76185 Karlsruhe, Germany. The server is located in a data centre in Vienna, Austria, i.e. within the European Union.
Each time this website is accessed, the web server automatically records information transmitted by your browser. These so-called server log files contain:
- the IP address of the accessing device,
- the date and time of access,
- the page or file accessed,
- the amount of data transferred and the status code,
- the previously visited page (referrer), if your browser transmits it,
- browser type and version as well as operating system.
This data is not combined with other data sources and is not used to identify you personally. The processing is based on Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. My legitimate interest lies in operating the website in a technically error-free and secure manner and being able to detect attacks. The log files are automatically deleted after 14 days.
4. Encrypted transmission
This website uses TLS encryption (recognisable by “https://” and the padlock symbol in your browser’s address bar). This means that data you transmit to this website cannot be read by third parties.
5. Fonts (Google Fonts)
To display fonts consistently, this website uses the fonts “Inter” and “Poppins”, which are loaded from servers of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. When you open the page, your browser connects to Google for this purpose. As a result, Google learns that this website was accessed via your IP address. Your IP address may be transmitted to Google servers in the USA in the process.
The processing is based on Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. My legitimate interest lies in a consistent and easily readable presentation of the website, which is particularly important for people with impaired vision. Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework; the transfer to the USA is therefore based on the European Commission’s adequacy decision (Art. 45 GDPR).
You can find more information in Google’s privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy. If your browser cannot or is not allowed to load these fonts, a standard font from your computer will be used.
6. Cookies, analytics and advertising
Cookie notice and your choice
On your first visit, this website shows a notice (“cookie banner”) in which you can choose which kinds of storage you allow. Without your explicit consent, only technically necessary data is processed. Your choice is saved for twelve months in your browser’s local storage (key cc_consent_v1) so that you are not asked again on every visit. No data is transmitted to me or to third parties in the process. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time via the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page.
The legal basis for storing your choice is Section 25 (2) no. 2 of the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG) in conjunction with Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. The legal basis for all services requiring consent is your consent pursuant to Section 25 (1) TDDDG and Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR. Consent is voluntary and can be withdrawn at any time with effect for the future.
Current status: The Matomo and Meta Pixel services described below have been technically prepared but are currently not active. No visitor data is being analysed at present. If a service is activated, this will only happen after you have given your consent via the cookie notice.
Visitor analytics with Matomo (“Statistics” category)
Only with your consent do I use the analytics software Matomo to understand how visitors use this website (e.g. which pages are visited, how visitors find the site, which devices are used). Matomo runs on a server that I operate myself in Germany. No data is passed on to Matomo or any other third party.
For this purpose, Matomo stores cookies on your device and processes your IP address in shortened (anonymised) form, so that it cannot be traced back to you. The data is not combined with other data sources. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR, Section 25 (1) TDDDG). Without your consent, Matomo is not loaded.
Meta Pixel and Meta Ads retargeting (“Marketing” category)
Only with your consent do I use the “Meta Pixel” of Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, Merrion Road, Dublin 4, D04 X2K5, Ireland (“Meta”). This allows me to show visitors to this website relevant ads on Facebook and Instagram later on (“retargeting”) and to measure the success of such ads. For this purpose, Meta sets cookies on your device and receives information about your visit (e.g. pages viewed, IP address, browser identifiers). If you are logged in to Facebook or Instagram, Meta can link the visit to your account.
Meta and I are joint controllers for the collection and transmission of this data (Art. 26 GDPR); you can find the corresponding agreement at facebook.com/legal/controller_addendum. Any further processing after transmission is the sole responsibility of Meta. Data may be transferred to Meta Platforms, Inc. in the USA in the process; Meta is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (Art. 45 GDPR). The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR, Section 25 (1) TDDDG). Without your consent, the Meta Pixel is not loaded.
You can find more information in Meta’s privacy policy at facebook.com/privacy/policy. You can adjust your ad preferences with Meta at facebook.com/adpreferences.
Google Search Console
To check how this website is found in Google Search, I use Google Search Console, provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Search Console does not set any cookies on this website and does not record any data about your visit. It only shows me aggregated information from Google itself, e.g. for which search terms the site was displayed and how often it was clicked. It is not possible to link this to individual people. No consent is required for this; the legal basis is my legitimate interest in making my services easy to find (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).
7. Contacting me
If you contact me by phone or email, I process the data you provide (e.g. name, phone number, email address, your request) in order to answer your enquiry and, if applicable, to arrange an appointment.
The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR if your enquiry is aimed at an order or at preparing an order; otherwise Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR, based on my legitimate interest in answering enquiries reliably.
Emails are received and stored via a mail server operated by me within the EU. I delete your enquiry once it has been dealt with, provided there are no statutory retention obligations. If an order is placed, I keep the related correspondence for the duration of the retention periods required under commercial and tax law.
If relatives contact me on behalf of another person, I also process that person’s data (e.g. name and address for the home visit). Please only give me data that the person concerned has agreed to share.
8. Data processed while I help you
Home visits and remote help
During a home visit or when helping remotely, I work on your computer and inevitably see content stored on the device (e.g. files, photos, emails or programs). I only access what is necessary for the agreed help, I do not make copies of your data for myself, and I treat everything I see confidentially.
For remote help, a remote maintenance program is used which you start yourself and can end at any time. You can follow every step on your screen. A connection is only established with your explicit consent and only for the duration of the help; no permanent, unattended access is set up.
The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR (performance of the contract concluded with you).
Backups
If I set up a backup for you, your data is backed up exclusively to your own storage media or to a storage service of your choice. I do not keep any backup copies of your data.
Invoicing and retention
For invoicing, I process your name, your address and the services provided. Due to German tax regulations (Section 147 of the Fiscal Code, AO; Section 14b of the VAT Act, UStG), I am required to keep invoices and receipts for the statutory period of up to ten years. The legal basis for this is Art. 6 (1) (c) GDPR.
9. Your rights
You have the following rights towards me with regard to your personal data:
- Access (Art. 15 GDPR): you can find out what data I hold about you.
- Rectification (Art. 16 GDPR): I will correct inaccurate data at your request.
- Erasure (Art. 17 GDPR): you can ask me to delete your data, provided there is no obligation to retain it.
- Restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR).
- Data portability (Art. 20 GDPR): you can receive your data in a common format.
- Withdrawal of consent (Art. 7 (3) GDPR), where processing is based on your consent. The lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal remains unaffected.
Right to object (Art. 21 GDPR)
Where I process your data on the basis of a legitimate interest (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR), you have the right to object to this processing at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation. I will then no longer process the data unless I can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing which override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing serves the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.
To exercise your rights, an informal message to me is sufficient – most easily by email to hilfe@computerhilfe-charlottenburg.de or by phone on +49 151 44985258.
10. Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority
If you believe that the processing of your data violates data protection law, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). The authority responsible for me is:
Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit (Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information)Alt-Moabit 59-61
10555 Berlin, Germany
Phone: +49 30 13889-0
Email: mailbox@datenschutz-berlin.de
www.datenschutz-berlin.de
11. Data security
I take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. These include in particular encrypted transmission, a server that is kept up to date, and the principle of collecting and storing as little data as possible.
12. Changes to this privacy policy
I update this privacy policy when the legal situation or the technology of this website changes. The version published here always applies.
